Pacman Players

This video game was first released in the Japanese Arcades, and soon pacman became the most popular game in the entire world. It even inspired an animated television series, music, and lots of merchandise which sold extremely well. At that time in history, there existed no free pacman games on the internet like now, flash animation didn't exist, and the only place you could even play was the arcades. The well known gaming company namco released pacman in 1980. During this period, most arcades only featured games like space invaders or asteroids, so this was totally new and groundbreaking in the industry. The people responded, and soon fell in love with eating dots on the screen, running away from the bad guys, and playing the now classic game of pacman.

How do you Play Pacman?

In this game, players control the pac-man in a maze, chomping down on the dots. Once all the dots are eaten up, its time for the next level. There are four ghosts trying to get eliminate your character, they are named blinky, pinky, clyde, and inky. If one of those ghosts touches you, life is lost as they drain your enegy, and you lose the game. At each corner there are flashing dots, which are a little larger then the pac-dots. These give pacman the ability to eat the ghosts, but it only lasts about 20 seconds or less. These power pellets also slow down the ghosts and change their colors. Once they return to normal you'd better watch out - and run the opposite direction. Also found are bonus items such as fruits, which occasionally appear in the center of the screen. These simply award you some bonus points, which aren't exactly that useful. Lots of free pacman games exist all over the internet today.

Technically you can never win the game of pacman, aslong as you stay alive it just keeps going and going, level after level. But did you know that once you reach level 256, the screen becomes a mess and you hit this glitch in the software. Most people never reach this far and have never experienced this situation. In the gaming industry, this one is known as the kill screen.

My Famous Pacman Story

I remember the first time I ever reached level 256, it was quite the achievement, and many gamers are still proud of my accomplishment. It was a stormy day, and I'd just ordered a pizza. I had reached the pacman level 200, and was really starting to wonder when I was going to beat this video game. But it didn't matter how long the mission took to complete, I had to win. By level 211, the food had arrived and I sure was hungry. So there I was, eating with one hand, and playing the hardest pac-man of my life with the other. Suddenly the phone rang, and I didn't know what to do, because I was expected a very important phone call from my boss. You see, I didn't show up for work that day, and keeping my job was important. In retrospect, I should have went to work. I lost my job, but I reached that final stage of the pacman game. It was a bittersweet victory, realizing my friend was just pulling my leg - there is no final stage featuring a huge boss named Gilberg. Oh well, long live the pacman gamer!
